Werner was born in Pretoria and attended Waterkloof High School in Pretoria, after which he pursued a medical career and obtained his degree as Medical Doctor (MBChB) from the University of Pretoria and also completed his intern medical doctor year. Werner decided not to further pursue the medical world, but rather to join the family business. Werner further studied and obtained a Marketing Degree and also obtained an M.B.A. in 2001 from the University of Hull (U.K.), specializing in Strategic Marketing, which comes to very good use these days. The Roux family has built a family business since 1995, extending across numerous industries from commodities, mining, fincance to the property industry. The family owns stakes and have been co-founders of numerous businesses, of which the Real Estate and Property development businesses are the largest. The Roux family has been involved in various property developments over the past 25 years, ranging from commercial, to residential and private hospital projects.
During the years from 1996 to 2004, Werner Roux has been developer and co-developer of multiple town house projects in the suburbs of Garsfontein, Faerie Glen and Moreleta Park in Pretoria.
The Roux family also developed 23 large corporate office buildings in Brooklyn and Hatfield in Pretoria,
as well as a large industrial complex in Wadeville, Johannesburg. The Roux family currently has various large-scale projects

LagoonBay Lifestyle Estate
A new and exciting project in George that promises to be a sought-after, exclusive and prestigious Vineyard &
Agricultural Estate in the Garden Route, which will boast with private beaches
stretching more than 3 km along the ocean and its own salt-water lagoon.
LagoonBay consists of 200 large plots (approx. 3 Ha in size), surrounded by vineyards, olive orchards and live-stock paddocks. It will also offer a five-star boutique hotel and a convenience shopping centre. After 14-years of challenges, the final development rights have been obtained, in what must arguably be, one of the most pristine locations in South Africa. The 50% partner in this project is Rand Merchant Bank (RMB).
Located in Stellenbosch this project offers an initial 70 residential opportunities, with a further 250 erven and a commercial precinct.
This land has been included in the newly approved Stellenbosch SDF and will be the only large-scale residential land available for development,
for the foreseeable future within close proximity to this beautiful town.
The above projects collectively entail in excess of R5 billion’s development capital. Werner Roux acts as CEO and the main driving force as the Developer and Project coordinator behind all of these projects, on a day-to-day basis.
In addition, the Roux family is also planning two (2) smaller Retail developments in George (approx. 20 000 m2) and a Private Hospital in Burgersfort. Werner was also the founder of the real estate firm, RealNet Properties, (www.realnet.co.za) in 2001. It grew within 5 years to more than 120 offices across SA and was one of the “big 5” real estate companies in SA, when he decided to sell the business in 2007, to concentrate purely on property development. The Roux family founded one of the first and largest Mortgage Origination companies in SA, in 2002, by acquiring the SaamBou home loans team – known as Quantro Home Loans. This company later merged with Wizard Home Loans and then later with Better Bond.
Werner also founded the Property Trader Magazine in 2001, one of the leading mediums for advertising and marketing of property in SA.
The above confirms a rich history of knowledge and experience of Werner Roux in the South African property market. His experience extends across numerous facets of the property industry and with intimate knowledge of each sector in the industry. Werner is also a qualified and registered estate agent and real estate principle with the EAAB of South Africa.
