The Founders

Dr Werner Roux

Dr Werner Roux

Werner is an experienced property developer and businessman with a rich history in the property industry. Initially, he pursued a medical career, earning his Medical Doctor (MBChB) degree from the University of Pretoria and completing his house doctor year. However, Werner chose to shift his focus to the business. In 2001, he obtained an M.B.A. from the University of Hull (U.K.) with a specialization in Strategic Marketing, which has proven beneficial in his current endeavors. Werner is also a private equity investor in a host of businesses across numerous industries.

Since 1995, the Roux family has built a business across various industries, including commodities, mining, finance, and property. They own stakes and co-founded numerous businesses, with Real Estate and Property development being the largest. Over the past 25 years, the Roux family has been involved in various property developments, ranging from commercial to residential and private hospital projects.

Werner founded RealNet Properties in 2001, growing it to more than 120 offices across SA within five years. He sold the business in 2007 to concentrate on property development. The Roux family also founded one of the first and largest Mortgage Origination companies in SA in 2002, known as Quantro Home Loans.

From 1996 to 2004, Werner Roux developed multiple townhouse projects in Pretoria suburbs, including Garsfontein, Faerie Glen, and Moreleta Park. The family also developed large corporate office buildings in Brooklyn and Hatfield, Pretoria, and an industrial complex in Wadeville, Johannesburg. Currently, the Roux family is engaged in large-scale projects such as LagoonBay in George and the Longlands Village project in Stellenbosch.

Werner is also a partner in the Staytus Collection portfolio, including projects like Boland Oval, The Stellenbosch Design District, Staytus on Herold, Staytus Markplein, La Luc Estate, Longlands Estate and Botmaskop Estate.

LagoonBay Lifestyle Estate

A new and exciting project in George that promises to be a sought-after, exclusive and prestigious Vineyard & Agricultural Estate in the Garden Route, which will offer private beaches stretching more than 3 km along the ocean and its own salt-water lagoon. LagoonBay consists of 200 large plots (approx. 3 Ha in size), surrounded by vineyards, olive orchards and live-stock paddocks. It will also offer a five-star boutique hotel and a convenience shopping centre. After 14-years of challenges, the final development rights have been obtained, in what must arguably be, one of the most pristine locations in South Africa. The 50% partner in this project is Rand Merchant Bank (RMB).

Werner serves as CEO and the main driving force as the Developer and Project coordinator behind these projects, overseeing a total development capital exceeding R5 billion. Additionally, the Roux family plans two smaller retail developments in George and a private hospital in Burgersfort.

Werner’s extensive knowledge and experience in the South African property market are evident in his roles as a qualified and registered estate agent and real estate principal with the EAAB of South Africa. He is recognized as a credible and honorable businessman with success in various business sectors, promising continued success in his business and property portfolio.
